I know what I’m asking Santa for this Christmas. He-Man & She-Ra - A Christmas Special. Here’s what Amazon has to say about the plot:
In this special Christmas episode of the He-Man and She-Ra cartoons, their sidekick Orko accidentally gets beamed to Earth during a test of a new spy satellite. Orko manages [...]

Last night the weatherguy had me all in a tizzy with his promise of snow (Yes, we get snow in Seattle - we call it solid rain). He failed to come through for me. He’s adorable, but a liar. An adorable liar.
Anyway, several months ago my sewing machine foot pedal [...]

The BBC reports on a knitting group focused on helping women quit smoking. I think that’s awesome. It would work even better if the women knit with recalled Bernat Fur Out.
Bernat has received two reports of garments made of the recalled yarn burning, with one person receiving singed eyebrows.
Of course, trading your 2-pack-a-day [...]

It’s a good thing I didn’t start knitting until after I got married. I give you… the knitted wedding.
The champagne reception is at 3pm, with speeches and knitted cake. You may knit through the reception. There are drinks but you may want to bring a picnic, as the food is knitted.
Knitted! I [...]

Here’s a pic of the now frogged 1×1 ribbed cuff on my sockotta sock. The picot isn’t really working out either, so now the 1×1 is looking pretty good. Garh.
And have you seen the commercial for Kraft cheese crumbles? Apparently, they’re crumbelievable. Another perfectly good song, ruined. You can read [...]

Wow. Reading Viv’s tasting notes on new Dry Soda makes me want to leave work early and track down a bottle. Kumquat! Lavender! Lemongrass! Rhubarb! All you folks who don’t live in the Seattle area are just going to have to wait. Or you can just get a [...]

I was working on my second pair of socks EVER (in Sockotta, thanks for asking!) and I was loving the stripes, but seriously displeased with the ribbed cuff. I was using size 0 needles, but the 1×1 rib was just sag city. Then, I saw this.
Yes, definitely. So I frogged [...]

If any of you remember back to this summer (Lord knows I don’t), you might recall a post in which I gushed about the fabulous Russian join. Whee, it rocks. Today I discovered that if you forget your chibi at home, you can actually Russian join by hand. I was knitting with [...]

Some researchers in the UK just discovered that being cold actually increases your risk of coming down with a cold! Read all about it here. Apparently, when you get cold, your blood vessels constrict, which keeps your infection-fighting white blood cells away from the places where icky viruses tend to hang out. [...]

I finally made the easy Heart scarf from the Breast Cancer Awareness issue of Knitty. I think it turned out very cute. I used one strand of a mystery pink wool held together with a strand of Douceur et Soie in a slightly darker pink. This scarf was kind of itchy, so [...]

Ta-da! The Christmas stocking. I knitted this for someone who needed a stocking, because the stocking I made this person a few years ago snapped in half (don’t ask). I used Wool-Ease from my back-when-I-didn’t-know-any-better stash, and size 10.5 needles. It’s extremely floppy, so I should have probably used smaller needles. [...]

The projects for the Winter 2005 issue of Interweave Knits are out! I am underwhelmed, except for the earflap hats. But I’m usually underwhelmed at first, then I find things I like.

You know how Milky Way Dark is soooo much better than original flavor Milky Ways? Well, it’s true. And those dark M&Ms were pretty sweet, too. Well, I just tried Woolite for Dark laundry today, and I’m hooked. It smells different than original flavor Woolite - a little sultry, a little [...]

“If you are a squirrel, and suspect you may be suffering from EFTS, immediately call the Hotline at 1-800-867-5309.”
I’m especially looking forward to the prehensile colon.

Well, listening to the Prez rattle on about his National Plan to Protect Americans from the Bird Flu a few days ago got me thinking about disaster preparedness. Thinking about my pantry, I have plenty of martini olives and chocolate chips to survive for at least a week, but most of my fluid stockpile [...]

If you’ve been paying attention, you must have noticed that this is not a political blog. I don’t state a lot of opinions, except about which yarns I consider delectable, and which are regrettable (cashmerino yay, linen boo!). Anyway, I would be derelict in my duty as a public health scientist if I [...]

So I started working on this Edgar scarf from Knitty as soon as it came out, but now I’m not so sure. It seems a little unfinished looking. Well, aside from the obvious fact that it’s not DONE, it seems a little too rustic for my taste. I may frog it. [...]

Here’s my second Clapotis, again with Kool-aid yarn, this time in positively nuclear shades of pink and green. Yowie! I’m not sure what sort of outfit this would compliment. It’s definitely more suited to Spring. Spring on Venus, perhaps.

As I was trying to find a good angle to photograph my completed wristwarmers from Last Minute Knitted Gifts, I realized that this would be an awesome tool for a shadow puppet show. What is it? A rude goose.
